The unique design of the building, adorned with greenery, is the creation of the renowned Japanese creative designer, Kashiwa Sato. The entire structure is carbon neutral.
Fronted by expansive glass, the open and spacious office area offers a high degree of flexibility incorporating a hot-desking. Multiple meeting booths are also available to foster enhanced communication.
The new office building, “KIMICA HONKAN," houses an R&D lab, QC lab, and a cafeteria. It is a sustainable building which has achieved the highest five-star rating in the Building-Housing Energy- efficiency Labeling System (BELS).
The low-rise structure creates an elegant and graceful appearance. Intentionally, there are no fences in front of the building, leaving a spacious green area open to the local community.
A dynamic structural design has given rise to a column-free space measuring 22x70 meters, with integrated one-room offices. The entire seating arrangement follows a hot-desking, encouraging communication among employees. A central cross staircase in the building seamlessly connects the floors, fostering a sense of unity.
World-class research facilities include instrumental analysis labs, microbiological testing rooms (cleanrooms), and GMP testing facilities. The food application lab, equipped with professional kitchen facilities, also includes a seminar room that can accommodate up to 100 attendees.
The design has been enhanced with ideas from our employees. For example, illuminating at night was born from a desire to brighten the city, and it has received acclaim from the community, becoming a symbol of the town.
In Pursuit of Sustainability and the Business Continuity Plan (BCP):
Creating a state-of-the-art hub that is both earth and people friendly
By adopting the “Prestressed Concrete Voided Slab” system, KIMICA succeeded in expanding the beam spacing to 22m, eliminating the beams that protrude into rooms. The large one-room office and lab create a sense of unity among employees, while also increasing the air conditioning efficiency. The thick floor with excellent vibration damping performance also increases the accuracy of laboratory measurements.
“Radiant Air Conditioning” can maintain a comfortable temperature using less energy than conventional air conditioning. This results in a uniform temperature throughout the building creating a comfortable office space. For ventilation, the Coanda effect (sending gentle airflow along the ceiling) is used to prevent dust build up in the laboratory.
The fertilizer that nourishes the lawn uses “seaweed residue”, the residue which remains from the alginate extraction process. By not wasting any part of this natural resource, KIMICA continues to demonstrate its “Mottainai-sprit” which has been deeply rooted in its DNA since its founding.
Blinds are installed on the inside of the dual-pane windows and additional windows added to create triple-pane windows which dramatically improves thermal insulation performance. Electric blinds block direct sunlight, shut out heat, and ultraviolet rays, resulting in both an open glass-walled space with a view and a stable test environment.
The radiant air conditioning system extracts heat from groundwater in the winter and allows the water to absorb heat in the summer, leading to a reduction of the environmental load by more than 50% compared to conventional air conditioning systems.
The OSAKA office is conveniently located, just nearby the JR Shin-Osaka Station, making it an ideal base for commuting and business trips.
KIMICA expanded into Chile in 1988, establishing the first alginate factory in the Southern Hemisphere. In addition to the production base in Paine city, we also have an office in the heart of the capital city, Santiago.
The office is located in the heart of New York City (Manhattan). It is an excellent location, just a 1-minute walk from Central Park.
The office is situated in the heart of Europe, in the city of Dusseldorf, known for its excellent access to all parts of Europe and where companies are concentrated.
As key logistics hubs for rapid delivery, KIMICA has warehouses in Chicago, USA and Rotterdam, Netherlands, serving our operations in the United States and Europe.
